About Go Gili Diving

The Gili’s are a group of three small islands located in Lombok Province just east of Bali in the beautiful country of Indonesia. Yup, Bali is not a country!

The islands consist of Gili Meno, Gili Air, and the biggest Gili Trawangan also known as Gili T (Probably because everyone is too lazy to say the whole thing)

The Gili islands each have their own unique identity. Gili Meno is the quieter island with boutique and large scale resort, Gili T is the larger island with a variety of different styles of accommodations and a vibrant nightlife and Gili Air is the unique in-between with great restaurants, accommodations, and live music night vibes. Surrounding the beautiful island is an underwater world unlike any other.

What is ssi and what is padi?

Everyone has heard of PADI and people even usually say “I’m going to get my PADI” when they are referring to their open water course. PADI is actually a scuba diving agency and a rather old one, having started back in 1970.

SSI stands for Scuba Schools International and it is now the world’s largest store-based Scuba Diving training agency. It was started only 4 years after PADI and has grown over the years to take a very big market share.

With everything being digital, you can even begin your course from exactly where you are right now. Both agencies offer e-learning via the Dive apps. Simply reach out to start your Open Water E-Learning and we can get you signed up so that you can get all the boring (but IMPORTANT) academics out of the way before you even set foot on the island.

Once you have your Open Water Diver Certificate, it doesn’t matter what agency shop you go to, you will be able to dive at any center in the world within your certification limits. Both agencies provide the same level of quality training and when certified you will be at equivalent levels.
